Corporate social responsibility
Infinity is committed to the holistic and continuous education of human beings throughout the globe. We believe that education is the bedrock of successful societies and provides the solution to poverty, hunger and disease.
Infinity is actively engaged in education related activities that we believe will make the world a better place with donations to key projects including:
Travelling library for African schools (in conjunction with BAT, SAB Miller, Peugeot)
Designed to reach into the rural countryside, the library brings knowledge, stimulation and empowerment. Donkey-drawn or pedal-powered, the travelling library is key to supporting and maintaining hard-gained literacy. As such, it is an important tool in Africa Educational Trust’s programme to use education to improve lives of great hardship.
Health checks (in conjunction with AO Foundation)
Working through the Rural Literacy and Health Programme, Mysore (RLHP), have to-date funded the establishment of 4 health camps for children living on the street. The health care is an important part of an integrated programme to improve the lives of slum children in southern India. Although state education to a certain age is free, it is generally of a poor standard and slum children rarely remain in education long enough to gain skills enough to break out of the cycle of subsistence living. RLHP organizes a supplementary programme in 30 centres.
Brain cells (in conjunction with BAT and SABMiller)
Parkinson’s affects about one in every 500 people, and there are about 120,000 patients in Britain, with 10,000 newly diagnosed with the condition each year.
A new project that the Parkinson’s Disease society wishes to undertake aims to identify specific genes that may play a role in trying to prevent the death of dopamine producing nerve cells within the brain. A greater understanding of these genetic changes will point towards proteins that can be used as targets for developing drugs that can protect dopamine neurons, effectively halting the progression of the condition.
Gift of sight (in conjunction with AO Foundation)
In developing countries, sight may make the difference between living and dying. When children are born with cataracts, if the operation isn’t done within the first 7 years of life, the brain loses the ability to receive messages from the eye. Cataract operations are very successful, particularly on the young where a person’s life can be transformed.
Environment
While there is a great deal of debate on the subject of global warming, Infinity Learning believe that as a responsible business in the 21st century we need to be educated and prudent in our use of resources. As such we have built a relationship with The Carbon Advice Group that allows us to monitor and actively reduce our carbon footprint as well as investing in projects that help to educate and support other people in reducing their footprint. Projects include:
As part of our carbon reduction programme we minimise print and production of marketing literature, but where printed materials are required by our clients we will ensure that the paper we use is recycled and that the inks are environmentally friendly.
